National Children’s Gardening Week
Together, we help children grow.
23 – 31 May 2026
The aim of National Children’s Gardening Week is to inspire children’s curiosity, whilst the warm weather is a great time to see speedy results of seed sowing, planting and other gardening activities.
Introducing Children’s Gardening Week
National Children’s Gardening Week celebrates the fun that gardens hold for kids. Children, parents, grandparents, schools or garden businesses can find ideas for fun garden projects and activities on this site.
Partnering with Lee Connelly –
The Children’s Gardening Coach
Lee Connelly, The Children’s Gardening Coach, is one of the UK’s leading voices in children’s gardening education. Through live stage shows, nationwide school tours, media work, and policy advocacy, Lee inspires children, families, and educators to grow, garden, and care for the natural world. Lee has appeared on CBBC’s Blue Peter, worked closely with UK Parliament and national organisations to champion children’s access to gardening and outdoor education, and has delivered large-scale school tours reaching hundreds of thousands of children across the UK and beyond. His work bridges education, entertainment, and impact, making gardening accessible, exciting, and meaningful for young audiences.
The Great Garden Centre Mystery: Inspiring the Next Generation
This year, Lee introduces The Great Garden Centre Mystery—a brand-new interactive adventure created especially for National Children’s Gardening Week. Using digital code‑breaking maps, the initiative transforms garden centres into places of discovery and story‑led exploration, inspiring families to learn, play, and connect with gardening in a fun and imaginative way.
Supporting Greenfingers
Greenfingers is a national charity dedicated to supporting children who spend time in hospices around the UK by creating inspiring gardens for them to relax in and enjoy. They create beautiful, well-designed outdoor spaces for children to enjoy with their family, friends and siblings, whether through play and fun, or therapeutic rest and relaxation.
